UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's tennis team will be back on the court this weekend to compete in the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships. The tournament will begin Thursday, Oct. 18 and wrap up on Sunday, Oct. 21 in Blacksburg, Va.
Noah Sutter (New York, N.Y.) and Chris Kuhnle (Shoreham, N.Y.) will both compete in the singles qualifying draw.
Constant De La Bassetiere (Reim, France), Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil), Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece), Alp Sentay (Izmar, Turkey), Matt Galush (Cary, N.C.), Ben Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa) and Zach Lieb (Newtown Square, Pa) will all compete in the singles main draw.
Antonopoulos had the most successful outing at the tournament last year, advancing to the singles semifinals. This will be his first tournament of the fall season.
Penn State will also be competing in doubles competition, featuring four pairings. These pairings include De La Bassetiere/Nemeth, Sentay/Antonopoulos, Galush/B. Lieb and Sutter/Z. Lieb.
The duo of Sentay/Antonopoulos advanced to the semifinals last year, losing to the eventual overall winners of the tournament.
"We look forward to this tournament every fall," said head coach Jeff Zinn. "It proves who is the best in the Region as a team, and individually you want to be the best. We take the tournament very seriously and want to do well in both singles and doubles."
Updates on the matches and all tournament information will be available on the tournament page.
