Nittany Lion Pair Takes ITA Regional Doubles Championship

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the first time in program history, a Penn State men's tennis doubles pair was crowned ITA Atlantic Regional Champions. Six wins by the duo blazed the way for this historic accomplishment.

Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and partner Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil) took home the title in impressive fashion, defeating Alberto Caceres Casas and Mark Wallner of Temple in straight sets 6-2, 6-0.

De La Bassetiere and Nemeth have earned the right to represent Penn State at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships in Suprise, Ariz. on Nov. 7-11.

The championship win caps off a very successful tournament for the Nittany Lions, racking up a total of 25 tournament wins.

"I am really proud of the way we finished this tournament," said associate head coach Paul Tobin. "It is promising that this was our first tournament in the fall and we did so well. It was an amazing run for Constant and Gabriel, making Penn State history. Everybody on the team is a winner today."

Next up, the Blue and White will head to the Big Ten Indoor Championships Oct. 26-28 in Ann Arbor, Mich.
