UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's hockey freshman defenseman Jessica Adolfsson was named to the Swedish Women's National Team roster for the upcoming Four Nations Cup Nov. 6-10 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Adolfsson is one of 23 players named to the team and one of five team members currently on an NCAA Division I women's hockey roster.
The Four Nations Cup is a round-robin style tournament that features four of the best women's national teams in the world: the United States, Canada, Sweden, and Finland. The tournament will be played at the SaskTel Centre.
Adolfsson has had a solid season thus far in her first collegiate campaign with the Nittany Lions. She has played in all eight games so far and has dished out two assists. She leads the Nittany Lions with 19 blocked shots and has taken 11 registered shots.
Adolfsson has played in 30 total games with the Swedish Women's National Team since 2016 and has tallied two goals and four assists. She also played 33 games for the Swedish U18 WNT between 2014-16 and scored 22 points on nine goals and 13 helpers. She is a native of Linkoping, Sweden and played most recently for Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL) during the 2017-18 season.
Sweden will open the tournament versus Canada on Nov. 6, followed by a matchup with Finland the following day and a game against the U.S. to conclude round-robin play on Friday, Nov. 9. The third-place game and gold-medal games will be played Saturday, Nov. 10.
Penn State women's hockey will be on a bye the week of the Four Nations Cup.
