UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's golf team concludes the fall portion of its 2018-19 season at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate Saturday-Sunday, Oct. 27-28. The 54-hole tournament, played on the East Course at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, North Carolina, features a par-72, 7,270-yard layout.
An 8:30 a.m. shotgun start for the first of the two rounds on Saturday has the Nittany Lions teeing off on holes No. 10-12.
Senior JD Hughes, junior Ryan Davis, senior Charles Huntzinger, senior Ryan Dornes, who tied his career low for both an individual round (68-3rd rd) and tournament (210), led the Nittany Lions in their last outing at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, and Alec Bard fill the card for Penn State. Louis Olsakovsky will compete in this event as an individual.
This is the first time Penn State is participating in the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate, but the second time the Nittany Lions will make a trip to the state of North Carolina this fall. Penn State won the Rod Myers Invitational team championship to open the 2018-19 season.
Big Ten colleagues Michigan State and Northwestern are both in the field of 12 teams at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate and the Wildcats won both the team and individual titles in 2017. The 2018 event is the seventh to be held at the Grandover Resort and 13th overall after initially beginning as the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate.
