Fidler Chosen CHA Rookie of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State freshman Loli Fidler was named the College Hockey America (CHA) Rookie of the Week for her performance Oct. 26-27 at Mercyhurst.

Fidler led the Nittany Lions with four points for the weekend and scored her first career goal in Saturday's game at Mercyhurst. Fidler ended up scoring a second goal in Saturday's game and added an assist. She also had an assist in Friday's matchup.

Filder's three-point effort Saturday was the first by a Nittany Lion freshman since Natalie Heising's hat trick Feb. 24, 2018 versus Lindenwood. Fidler has now recorded a point in four of the last six games for the Nittany Lions. She has six points in 2018 on two goals and four helpers.

The Edina, Minn. native had just been named the 2018 Minnesota Female High School Athlete of the Year at the second-annual Minnesota Sports Awards last Wednesday.

Filder is the second Nittany Lion rookie to receive the weekly award after Rene Gangarosa won it on Oct. 1 after Penn State's opening weekend at Colgate.
