UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State defeated Lock Haven, 12-6, in a fall exhibition baseball game Friday evening in Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Penn State used an eight-run sixth inning to power past Lock Haven. The Nittany Lions totaled 16 hits, led by two-hit games by designated hitter Connor Klemann, right fielder Curtis Robison, first baseman Parker Hendershot and second baseman Kris Kremer. Kremer had a game-high three RBIs, including two on a double to start the sixth-inning scoring run. Hendershot, Klemann and shortstop Isaiah Payton also doubled, while left fielder Ryan Ford drove in two in the sixth with a base hit.
RHP Conor Larkin and LHP Jeff Taylor both pitched two scoreless innings each, with Taylor earning the win and recording three strikeouts. Starting RHP Bailey Dees also struck out three in two innings, while RHP Kyle Virbitsky was perfect in the seventh with one strikeout and RHP Mason Mellott closed it out, striking out two over 1 1/3 innings.
The win was the second of the fall for Lions, who defeated Michigan State, 6-1, in a neutral site game in September.
