WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Penn State swimming & diving senior Ally McHugh and sophomore Gabe Castano helped the Big Ten secure a sweep of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge Sunday at Purdue's Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
The men finished the weekend with a narrow 179-174 win, while McHugh and Maddie Hart helped the Big Ten women to a 251-102 victory over the ACC, while Castano and senior diver Hector Garcia Boissier helped the men to a narrow 179-174 win.
The competition concluded early Sunday morning with senior Ally McHugh placing in second for the Big Ten in the 1000 free (9:40.12).
On the men's side for the Nittany Lions, sophomore Gabe Castano finished Sunday with a seventh-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:29.91). He also helped the Big Ten earn a sixth-place finish in the 400 free relay with a time of 2:57.51
Saturday saw McHugh swim the fastest 500 freestyle time in the nation this year, swimming it in a time of 4:39.63, which was enough to achieve an NCAA B-Cut. She also earned her B-cut in the 400 IM with a time of 4:07.89. Mchugh also earned the B1G a third place finish in the 800 free relay (7:10.07).
Senior Hector Garcia Boissier also had a strong outing for the Big Ten, placing fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 390.00.

Penn State divers will travel to Annapolis, Maryland for an all-diving meet against Navy Thursday through Saturday. The full team will compete again Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at the Tennessee Invitational in Knoxville, Tennessee.
