UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – In their second tournament of the fall season together, the Penn State men's tennis duo of Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil) captured their second doubles finals win at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
De La Bassetiere and Nemeth faced Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol of No. 6 South Alabama in the consolation finals round. The Blue and White beat the Jaguars in three sets 6-3, 6-7(5), 10-7 to secure the win. The Nittany Lions also earned wins over No. 1 Columbia and No. 4 Ohio State in the tournament.
De La Bassetiere and Nemeth have now racked up a total of 10 wins and a lone loss together since they started playing as a pair at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Oct. 18.
"We played really well against the best teams in the country," head coach Jeff Zinn said. "We need this win to become infectious for the spring season and translate to wins in team matches. I'm excited to start the season after finishing on such a high note."
The Nittany Lions next competition will be at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 19-21, to kick off the spring season.
