Nittany Lion Pair Earns Top-Rank in ITA Rankings

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – For the first time in program history, a Penn State men's tennis doubles pair has been ranked first overall in the ITA Division I Men's Tennis Rankings.

The duo of Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil) received the honor after claiming the ITA Atlantic Regionals crown and winning the Oracle ITA Fall National Championships consolation title.

"It is such an honor for Constant and Gabriel to be ranked No. 1 in the nation," head coach Jeff Zinn said. "It is such a great reflection of them and how hard they have worked to get to this point. All they want to do is make the team better, and their unselfishness has led them to this ranking. We could not be more proud of them but we also know that this is only the halfway point. As a coaching staff we know we have a lot of accolades ahead if we keep working hard and put the team before anyone's self-interests."

"I'm so happy for both Constant and Gabriel," associate head coach Paul Tobin said. "This is something that can never be taken away from them and a huge honor for our program."

The Nittany Lions will kick off their spring season at the Virginia Tech Invitational on Jan. 19-21.
