Heminger and Brenneman Lock Up Weekly CHA Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State student-athletes Izzy Heminger and Jenna Brenneman both received weekly awards from College Hockey America for their respective performances last weekend at RPI.

Heminger was named the CHA Rookie of the Week and Brenneman claimed CHA Goalie of the Week honors after the Nittany Lions went 1-0-1 in Troy, N.Y.

Heminger becomes the third Nittany Lion freshman to win CHA Rookie of the Week this season after she posted a three-point game last Friday against the Engineers. Heminger had a goal and two assists and led five multi-point scorers for the Nittany Lions on route to a 4-0 win. She now has two goals, two assists, and seven shots on goal in her last three games.

In the same game, Brenneman posted her first shutout of the season during a 22-save performance. The shutout was the first for Penn State since Feb. 24, 2018 versus Lindenwood (Hannah Ehresmann). For the weekend, Brenneman made two starts and allowed only one goal while making 37 total saves for a .974 save percentage.  Brenneman is the first Penn State goalie to claim the goaltender award this season.

Previous Nittany Lions to win CHA Rookie of the Week this season include Rene Gangarosa (Oct. 1) and Loli Fidler (Oct. 29).

The Nittany Lions return to action tomorrow and Wednesday, Nov. 20-21, at Pegula Ice Arena for a CHA series against RIT. Tuesday's game starts at 6 p.m. and Wednesday's puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
