Men's Volleyball Signs Watts For 2020 Season

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's volleyball team and Head Coach Mark Pavlik have announced the addition of Andrew Watts to the program.

Watts, a 6' 7" middle blocker from Newport, N.Y., recently signed his National Letter of Intent and will join Penn State at the start of the 2019-20 academic calendar year.

"We are excited by the potential Andrew brings to our program," Pavlik said. "We like his character and work ethic he has demonstrated both in high school and during his club volleyball experience. We think he can be a valuable middle blocker at the collegiate level and we're excited to have him."

Watts was a two-time (2017, 2018) All-County Award recipient and three-year varsity starter at Northport High School. He was named most improved player on his team in 2017 and was a team captain this past season. Watts was also named to the All-County Tournament Team twice.

He has been a member of the Long Island Volleyball Academy since 2016 and is currently with the Boys' Under-18 Red Team. His team won the East Coast Championship in 2016. Watts participated in various USA Volleyball Youth Training Camps and High Performance Tournaments, including the last two USAV Youth Holiday National Training Team Camps. His last High Performance Tournament appearance was this past summer in Tulsa, Okla. as a member of the Garden Empire Volleyball Association.
