Parker Earns Third B1G Honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's volleyball team saw freshman right side Jonni Parker earn her third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor on Monday afternoon for her performances against No. 19 Michigan and Northwestern.

Parker had a monster weekend, averaging a team-high 4.00 kills per set on .500 hitting, committing just two hitting errors in 44 attempts. She also added 16 total digs for 2.67 per set, and averaged 4.50 points per set over the week.

In a takedown of No. 19 Michigan, Parker put down 13 kills in three sets, hitting .440, and added nine digs, and a block.

In the match against Northwestern, Parker put down an 11-0-19 stat line, remaining errorless for a .579 hitting percentage. She also added seven digs, three blocks, an ace and an assist in the match.

Parker earned her third Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, and now the Nittany Lions are now up to six weekly honors on the season. Serena Gray (10/1) and Kaitlyn Hord (9/10) join Parker in the Freshman of the Week (9/17, 10/15) category, while Kendall White has earned one Defensive Player of the Week honor (10/1).

The Nittany Lions will close out the regular season with two home matches, hosting No. 3 Minnesota on Friday, November 23 at 8 p.m. for Ugly Sweater Night, and wrapped up the 2018 regular season with No. 7 Wisconsin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 as we White Out Rec Hall.
