Penn State Earns No. 8 Seed in 2018 NCAA Tournament

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - For the 29th consecutive season, the Penn State women's volleyball team (23-7) will serve as one of the 16 sites for the first and second rounds of the NCAA tournament, this time as the No. 8 overall seed in the 2018 NCAA women's volleyball tournament.

The NCAA tournament will start in University Park on Nov. 30 on with a 5 p.m. match between Syracuse (18-8) and Yale (19-4), and the second match of the night at 7:30 p.m. will feature the host Nittany Lions and Howard (20-10).

The two first round winners will square off at 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 1.                      

All-session tickets for the first and second rounds are priced at $12 for adults and $10 for students and youth ages 12 and under. Groups of 20 or more may purchase tickets at a discounted rate of $8.
Fans can purchase tickets by calling 1-800 -NITTANY or by visiting the Athletics Ticket Office in the Bryce Jordan Center from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets can also be purchased online HERE

Single-match tickets will only be sold at the door the night of each match. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and youth ages 12 and under. Doors will open at 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 and 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

Penn State is one of seven Big Ten teams to make the tournament, as Minnesota and Illinois both earned top-four seeds to have the opportunity to host both first and second rounds, and the regional rounds, as Minnesota is the No. 2 seed, and Illinois is the No. 3. Nebraska, the No. 7 seed, and Wisconsin, the No. 6 seed, will host first and second rounds, while Michigan and Purdue are also in the field of 64.

First- and second-round matches will be played November 29 through December 1 at 16 campus sites. Teams winning both matches will move on to regional play December 7 and 8. Regionals for the NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will be held at four non-predetermined campus sites, which will be announced after play concludes, on December 1 based on the highest seeds remaining. At each site, four teams will compete in single-elimination regional semifinal competition.

The 2018 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship will be held at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The national semifinals will be held December 13 at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. CT. The national championship will take place December 15 at 8:00 p.m. CT.
