Nittany Lion Duo Completes Day One at Nationals

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's tennis wrapped up day one at the ITA Fall Nationals Championships.

The doubles pair of Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and Gabriel Nemeth (Brasilia, Brazil) went up against the No. 5 seed, Giovanni Oradini and Niclas Braun of Mississippi State. The Blue and White lost a tough match in the third set, 6-3, 4-6, 1-0(6).

"We started off slowly and we definitely got better as the match progressed," said head coach Jeff Zinn. "You have to give credit to the No. 5 team in the country. They were down in the tiebreaker and executed perfectly to close out the match 10-6. We have to learn from matches like this and come back strong tomorrow in the consolation portion."

De La Bassetiere and Nemeth will compete in doubles consolation competition tomorrow against Washington's Kawika Lam and Enzo Sommer, with the match set to start at 5:30 p.m. MST.

Updates on the matches and all tournament information will be available on the tournament page.
