Ogle, Riehl Named to United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Emily Ogle and Kaleigh Riehl have been named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-America First Team, as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon. This is the first honor for both Ogle and Riehl. In program history, 12 Nittany Lions have combined for 14 Scholar All-America First Team plaudits.

In the classroom, both are kinesiology majors with Ogle tallying a 3.99 GPA and Riehl posting a 3.89 GPA.

Ogle, a redshirt senior midfielder, started all 25 matches in 2018 and finished the year with 17 points on six goals and five assists. With her appearance at Florida State on Nov. 23, Ogle became the eighth Nittany Lion to play in 100 career games. In her four seasons playing for Penn State, she received three All-Region First Team honors (2015, '17 and '18) and one All-Region Third Team plaudit ('14).

Along with her All-Region and Second Team All-America nods in 2018, Ogle was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team, the All-Big Ten First Team, the TopDrawerSoccer Best XI First Team and was tabbed the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year.

In 2018, Riehl, a redshirt junior defender, helped anchor a Nittany Lion backline that allowed just 13 goals and posted 14 shutouts in 25 matches. Individually, she was on the field for 95 percent of the season for the Blue & White.

Riehl's accolades in 2018 include: Scholar All-America First Team, First Team All-American, MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist, TopDrawerSoccer Best XI Second Team, All-North Region First Team, All-Big Ten First Team, Big Ten Defender of the Year, and two-time TopDrawerSoccer Team of the Week member.
