UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's lacrosse program saw four student-athletes pick up preseason honors from Inside Lacrosse on Monday as senior Chris Sabia, red-shirt junior Grant Ament and juniors Gerard Arceri and Colby Kneese were all honored.
Junior Gerard Arceri was named to the 2019 Preseason IL Media DI All-America Second Team. Arceri was a 2018 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Third Team All-American and an IL Honorable Mention All-American. He was also named 2018 Big Ten Specialist of the Year and was a Tewaaraton Award nominee. He finished 2018 with a 68.1 winning percentage at the face off x, going 216-317 on the season. He added 145 ground balls, while scoring six goals and adding an assist.
Junior goalie Colby Kneese was given third team honors. He was 2018 All-Big Ten Second Team and had an 8.91 goals against average, and a .549 save percentage. He made 145 saves in his 445 shots faced and finished the season with 28 ground balls and one caused turnover.
Defenseman Chris Sabia and attackman Grant Ament were both named Honorable Mention Preseason All-Americans. Sabia was a 2018 USILA Honorable Mention All-American and Second Team All-Big Ten. He led the Nittany Lions with 19 caused turnovers, adding 23 ground balls and five goals. Ament redshirted 2018, not seeing any action, but was 2017 USILA Honorable Mention All-America and First Team All-Big Ten.
Penn State, who came in at No. 10 on the IL Face-Off Yearbook poll will open up the regular season on Saturday, February 2 with a home game against Villanova, who came in at No. 22.
