UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams finished the four-day long NAC event in Cincinnati, Ohio, yesterday and today and Karol Metryka (Linden, N.J.) led the way.
Sunday, Penn State competed in women's epee and men's saber. Metryka claimed third in the saber after falling to former Nittany Lion Andrew Mackiewicz, 15-12, in the semi-finals. Alexandra Gillis (Dix Hills, N.Y.) was the lone fencer to compete for the Nittany Lions in the women's epee event. Gillis placed 107th.
Wrapping up the event on Monday was the women's saber and men's foil. Zara Moss (Cranberry Township, Pa.) and Kelli Wozniak (Westerville, Ohio) finished in 34th and 66th, respectively, in women's saber. Leading the men's foil team was Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) with his 24th place finish.
