No. 9 Men's Hockey Sweeps B1G Stars of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Junior Kris Myllari (Kanata, Ontario) earned his first career weekly honor after being named the Big Ten First Star of the Week on Tuesday morning as No. 9 Penn State swept the weekend awards as the only conference team to play a game last weekend.

Myllari was on the ice for each of the first three Penn State goals while registering a pair of assists including the primary tally on classmate Brandon Biro's (Sherwood Park, Alberta) opening goal for the Nittany Lions. The junior collected his third multi-point effort this season and the seventh of his career while leading the team with a plus-3 rating.

Myllari's 14 points this season rank tied for fourth in the Big Ten and tied for 17th nationally for defenseman while he leads the nation in blocked shots with 63 averaging 3.50 per game.

Senior Alec Marsh (Bridgewater, N.J.) scored a beautiful coast-to-coast tally as he split a pair of defenders to register a goal in back-to-back games for just the second time in his career as he claims his second career weekly accolade and first since his freshman season securing Second Star of the Week honors.

The aforementioned Biro was dubbed Third Star of the Week for his one goal performance while going plus-2 during the 4-4 tie against Princeton. For Biro this marks his second weekly honor this season, after earning Second Star on October 16, and the third of his career.

Penn State takes a few weeks off for the holidays before returning to Big Ten action with a weekend series at Minnesota on January 4-5.
