Six Nittany Lions Selected for U.S. Teams

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; January 30, 2019 – Six Penn State Nittany Lion field hockey players have been selected to three different United States teams by the W.S. Women's National Team High Performance Unit.  Head coach Char Morett-Curtiss' Penn State field hockey team is well represented on the U.S. U-19 squad, the U.S. U-21 team and the 2019 U.S. Women's Development Team.
 
Three seniors from this past season's team that advanced to the NCAA Championship tournament have been named to the 2019 U.S. Women's Development Team. Midfielder Gini Bramley (Elizabethtown, Pa.), back Cori Conley (Oak Park, Ill.) and goalie Jenny Rizzo (Hershey, Pa.) will all take part in the Development Team's training camps in February and March in preparation for their international tour to The Netherlands from April 13-22.  The team will compete against the Scotland Women's National Team and Belgium's U-21 Team.
 
Sophomore forward Abby Myers (Hartland, Wis.) has been named to the 2019 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team.  Myers and the U-21 squad will take part in three training camps in February and March in preparation for an international tour to Germany from April 14-22.  The team will head to Monchengladbach and face Germany's U-21 Team and Great Britain's U-21 Team.
 
Freshman goalie Brie Barraco (Allentown, Pa.) and freshman forward  Meghan Reese (Coopersburg, Pa.) have been named to the 2019 U.S. U-19 Women's National Team.  Barraco, Reese and the U-19 contingent will take part in three more training camps in the next two months in preparation for an international tour from April 14-22.  The U-19 squad will travel to Dusseldorf, Germany, where it will compete against Germany's U-18 Team and Belgium's U-18 Team. In addition, for the first time, the U-19 USWNT will take part in the Young Women's National Championships from June 14-18, 2019.
