Penn State Concludes January NAC Event in Charlotte

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's and women's fencing teams wrapped up a four-day long NAC event in Charlotte, N.C. The event began Friday and ended Monday.

Friday, Penn State had a fencer finish in the top-ten in junior men's foil, men's epee, and women's saber. Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) placed seventh in the foil, Elias Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.) placed eighth in men's epee, and Kelli Wozniak (Westerville, Ohio) ended the day with a tenth-place finish in saber.

Saturday, Penn State competed in Division 1 men's foil and women's epee and saber. Andrey Ostatnigrosh (Fresno, Calif.) started the day off for the Nittany Lions by placing 53rd in foil. Kelli Wozniak finished 36th in women's saber, and Anastasia Kalonji (Rennes, France) finished the day by placing 18th in women's epee.

Sunday, Alexandra Gillis (Dix Hills, N.Y.) and Inti Farfan-Bayerl (Morrison, Colo.) competed in junior women's epee and Division 1 men's saber. Gillis started the day off for the Nittany Lions with a 30th place finish and Farfarn-Bayerl finished the day by placing 75th in men's saber.

The Division 1 epee event wrapped up the four-day NAC for the Nittany Lions on Monday. Freshmen Demteri Zacharakis (Houston, Texas) and Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.) finished 75th and 78th, respectively.
