Big Ten Release
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Both Penn State men's and women's cross country teams were named All-Academic Teams for the 2018 season as announced by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Thursday.
To receive that status, each cross country program had to maintain a combined minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average among all of its students.
Additionally, five student-athletes earned individual USTFCCCA All-Academic honors. For women's cross country, sophomores Moira O'Shea and Alison Willingmyre and juniors Kathryn Munks and Danae Rivers earned the academic accolades while sophomore Alex Tomasko earned the honors on the men's side.
In order to qualify for that distinction, students must maintain a minimum 3.25 cumulative grade point average and finish in the top 25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regionals or as an All-American (top-40 finish) at the NCAA Championships.
