Penn State Fencers Finish Strong at Junior Olympics

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Select members of the Penn State fencing teams had strong performances at the Junior Olympics in Denver, Colo.

Freshmen Devin Tafoya (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Ryan Griffiths (Fair Lawn, N.J.) performed well in the junior men's epee to start the four-day event for the Nittany Lions. Tafoya led the men's epee squad with his 19th and Griffiths followed in 22nd place.

In junior men's foil sophomore Shane Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) finished in 19th.

Kelli Wozniak (Westerville, Ohio) closed out the tournament for the Nittany Lions with her 18th place finish in the junior women's saber event.
