UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Women's Gymnastics senior Sabrina Garcia was named as a nominee for the AAI Award, presented to the nation's outstanding senior.  Garcia has been a major contributor to the No. 24 Nittany Lions all season.  She is one of five Big Ten athletes who was recognized as an AAI Award nominee.
 
Garcia is currently ranked 29th in the nation and fifth in the Big Ten on bars, averaging a 9.864.  She is also No. 64 in the country and 11th in the conference on floor with a 9.846 average.  In all-around, Garcia sits seventh in the Big Ten, owning a 39.075 average.
 
In 2019, Garcia has won five individual event titles (two all-around, two uneven bars and one floor exercise).  The Etters, Pa. native has earned PSU's top all-around score four times this season.  She also has PSU's top uneven bars score in five meets and top floor exercise score in four meets.  She led PSU in vault and beam one time each.  Garcia has 23 career event titles (four all-around, one vault, 10 uneven bars, two balance beam and six floor exercise).
 
Garcia has 2019 season highs of 39.325 in all-around, 9.825 on vault, 9.950 on bars, 9.825 on beam and 9.875 on floor.  Her score on bars is a career-high and is the second-best individual bars score in the Big Ten this year.  She has helped PSU to a No. 24 national ranking, a No. 19 ranking on bars and a No. 23 ranking on beam.
 
An All-American in 2017 on bars, Garcia is also a two-time All-Big Ten selection, earning first-team honors in 2017 and second-team in 2018.  She was also named to the 2017 Big Ten All-Championships team and participated in all-around at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
 
A Human Development and Family Studies major, Garcia has been a member of the Athletic Directors Leadership Institute since September 2017.  This year, Garcia has been part of community service efforts, including reading at elementary schools, a book drive, Toys For Tots, Penn State's Pink Zone meet and the THON Pep Rally.
 
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Sarah Brown, is set to compete in the Big Five Meet on Friday at 7 p.m. in Toledo.
