Penn State Drops Two Games on Final Day of Knights Classic

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Penn State softball team (3-10) dropped games against Pitt, 2-0, and Louisiana Tech, 6-0, Sunday on the final day of the Knights Classic at UCF Softball Complex.

Game 1: Penn State 0, Pitt 2
In game one, both teams started off slow offensively.

Tori Dubois and Dani Fey each hit singles in the top of the first and third innings, respectively while Pitt also had hits in the bottom of the first and second.

Pitt go on the board in the bottom of the third inning for the 1-0 lead.

Chelsea Bisi had back-to-back hits in her at-bats in the fourth and sixth innings but Penn State was unable to convert on either tries.

Pitt's second run came on a sacrifice fly after an error put the runner on base.

Bailey Parshall started in the circle for the Nittany Lions against Pitt and struck out five batters through four innings pitched.

Game 2: Penn State 0, #RV Louisiana Tech 6
The Penn State offense struggled to get its bats going in game two of the day, and was ultimately no-hit by Louisiana Tech who is receiving votes in the latest weekly polls.

Junior Madey Smith came in to the circle in the seventh inning for the Nittany Lions and struck out two Lady Techster batters in her first appearance in 2019.

Up next the Nittany Lions make one final trip to Florida to play 12 games in a span of 10 days during their spring break trip. Penn State will start in the Madeira Beach Tournament, March 1-3 in Madeira Beach, Fla., and will face Boston College, Florida International, Detroit Mercy, Florida A&M and Central Michigan.
