Hammett Named B1G Gymnast of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State men's gymnastics junior Isaac Hammett was named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week for his performance in the tri-meet against Navy and Air Force last weekend.

Hammett was the Gene Wettstone Gymnast of the Meet after posting a career-high 14.800 on the rings. His 14.800 is the third best performance around the nation so far this season.

"He's developed a lot over this past season in maturity as a competitor," head coach Randy Jepson said of his junior rings specialist after Saturday's meet. "We always saw potential in him to do what he's doing right now. He's got a routine that can compete with anybody collegiately right now, he's starting to see that happen for him, to see him reach his potential fully is great."

Hammett and the rest of the Nittany Lions head to Ohio State on Saturday, March 2 at 2 p.m.
