INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Penn State track & field program will send six student-athletes to compete next weekend at the 2019 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships. The championship will be held March 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala., and hosted by the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the City of Birmingham.

On the women's side, Penn State will be represented by three individuals, including two in track events and one in the women's multi-event. Danae Rivers (800-meters) and Maddie Holmberg (pentathlon) are making repeat appearances in the NCAA Indoor Championships, both finishing seventh in their respective events at last year's championship. Freshman Alexis Holmes (400-meters) set a school record time of 52.14 last week at the Big Ten Indoor Championship and will make her first career NCAA Indoor Championship appearance as the fourth-seeded participant in the 400.

For the Penn State men, three Nittany Lions have been selected for two different events. Both David Lucas and Morgan Shigo will represent Penn State in the weight throw for the second consecutive year. Lucas is looking to defend his gold medal from last year's championship. Domenic Perretta will make his first career appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championship in the 800-meter run.

All six athletes earned spots in the field by being among the top-16 marks in the NCAA this season.

Holmberg, Lucas and Rivers all earned All-American honors at last year's championship in their respective events.

ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 6:30 p.m. ET on Friday, March 8 and starting at 5 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 9. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 10 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 10 on ESPN2 and again on Monday, March 11 starting at 10 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
