Nittany Lions Host Robert Morris For Key Conference Battle

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – The Penn State women's hockey team begins its final home stand of the 2018-19 season and a stretch of eight-straight College Hockey America games to conclude the regular-season slate with a two-game series against Robert Morris at Pegula Ice Arena this weekend.

The Nittany Lions completed their nonconference slate with a 4-2 loss to then fourth-ranked Princeton on the road Tuesday, Jan. 29.
 
The Nittany Lions had goals scored by Meike Meilleur and Sophie Slattery in the third period, both their third goals of the season. Rene Gangarosa picked up primary assists on both scores.
 
Penn State completed its nonconference schedule with a 6-4-4 overall record, including wins and ties over ranked opponents Colgate, Boston and Colgate,
 
YOUTH MOVEMENT
Penn State has had four different freshmen be named the CHA Rookie of the Week a total of six times this season, tying a program high for most in a season last reached in 2014-15.

CRUNCH TIME
Penn State's final eight games of the regular season will be played against CHA conference opponents. Penn State has a chance to make ground in the standings with only four points separating the Nittany Lions from third place in the standings.

The 2019 CHA Tournament will be held in Buffalo, N.Y. at the Harborcenter for the fourth consecutive season March 6-8.
 
SERIES VERSUS ROBERT MORRIS
The Nittany Lions trail the all-time series against the Colonials 4-18-5, but Penn State has closed the gap in recent matchups going 1-2-3 against Robert Morris since the start of the 2017-18 season. 
 
NEXT UP
Penn State will host another in-state rival, Mercyhurst, next weekend Feb. 15-16 in the final home series of the season for the Nittany Lions. Friday's game will start at 6 p.m. and Saturday's game will begin at 3 p.m.
 
Saturday's game on Feb. 16 will be Senior Day and will feature the final postgame skate of the season for fans.
