UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State men's and women's divers are set to compete in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships hosted by Navy Monday-Wednesday in Lejeune Hall.
The meet will determine the region's entries for the upcoming NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship meets.

Competition begins at noon Monday with the women's 3-meter and men's 1-meter events, and continues Tuesday at noon with the men's 3-meter and women's 1-meter events. Platform diving will be held Wednesday starting at 1 p.m.
NCAA schools are divided into five zones for diving based upon geographical location. Zone A consists of schools in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia.
A total of 110 divers have qualified for the Zone A Championship on at least one board. Women had to post scores of at least 265 points to qualify for the zone meet on the one-meter board, 280 points to take part in the three-meter event and 225 points to compete in platform diving at the meet. Men were required at attain scores of at least 300 points on the one meter, 320 points on the three meter and 300 points in platform diving to advance to the zone meet on the respective boards.
Zone A will send six men's divers on the 1-meter, five on the 3-meter and four in platform diving to the NCAA Championships, while the women will advance six divers from the 1-meter event, five from the 3-meter and five from the platform to the NCAA meet. Any diver that earns an NCAA bid in one event is eligible to compete in the other events at the NCAA Championships, provided that the diver finished in the top 12 at the same zone meet and has achieved the zone qualifying score for that event prior to the NCAA Championships.
The format for the two springboard events consists of six dives for all entered divers with the top-18 finishers from the preliminary round advancing to the finals where each will again perform six dives. Scores from the preliminary round are carried over into the finals. The platform event features all entered divers taking 12 dives.
On the men's side seniors Jack Crow (Bethesda, Md.) and Hector Garcia Boissier (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain) and freshman Jonah Cey (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada) are eligible to complete in all three dives (1-meter, 3-meter, platform), while sophomore Bryce Hoch (Hatfield, Pa.) will compete in the 1-meter and 3-meter. Garcia leads the group in the 3-meter (441.15) and 1-meter (419.40), finishing fourth in both at the Big Ten Championships, and also scored a 302.55 in the platform at Big Tens. Cey leads Penn State in the platform with a top score of 311.40, and also owns bests of 322.30 (1-meter) and 334.10 (3-meter). Crow is looking to return to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2016 and owns top scores of 401.90 (3-meter), 319.25 (1-meter) and 269.45 (platform). Hoch is competing at his second zone meet and owns season bests of 335.25 (3-meter) and 302.10 (1-meter).
On the women's side, junior Christina Crowell (Bedford Hills, N.Y.) is entered in the 3-meter and 1-meter, and sophomore Kamryn Umbel (Potomac, Md.) is entered in the 1-meter. Crowell's top 3-meter dive of the year came against Bloomsburg (293.18), while her top 1-meter dive came in Coral Springs with a score of 282. Umbel earned her 1-meter bid at the same event with a score of 276. Crowell is competing in her third zone meet, while Umbel is competing in her second.
Texas is hosting the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in Austin Mar. 20-23 and the men's championships Mar. 27-30.
