ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Freshman Jonah Cey narrowly missed out on becoming the third Penn State diver to advance to the NCAA Championships, placing sixth in the platform dive at the NCAA Zone A Regional Wednesday afternoon at the Naval Academy's Lejeune Hall.
Cey completed the 12-dive platform event with a total score of 649.30, placing him sixth, two spots out of qualifying. Cey was the lone Nittany Lion to compete on the third and final day of the competition.
Seniors Hector Garcia Boissier and Jack Crow will represent the Nittany Lions on the boards at the NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships, as they qualified in the springboard events Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Garcia placed second in the 1-meter with a 12-dive score of 764.95. Tuesday, Garcia took home gold in the 3-meter with a 12-dive score of 796.35, while Crow, qualified with a fifth-place finish in the 3-meter with a 12-dive score of 721.55.
