ROSEMONT, Ill. – Penn State sophomore forward Evan Barratt (Bristol, Pa.) highlighted a trio of Nittany Lions to earn Big Ten postseason accolades landing a spot on the All-Big Ten First-Team while classmate Cole Hults (Stoughton, Wis.) and junior Brandon Biro (Sherwood Park, Alberta) each earned honorable mention accolades as announced by the league off Tuesday afternoon.
Barratt becomes just the fourth Nittany Lion in program history and the second forward to grace the First-Team joining Casey Bailey (2014-15), Vince Pedrie (2016-17) and Trevor Hamilton '18 (2017-18). The sophomore paced the team with 11 goals during Big Ten contests while adding 14 assists for 25 points in 19 games played. Barratt's 1.32 points per game during conference games was second only to Michigan State's Taro Hirose who average 1.42 points per game in league play.
Overall this season, the sophomore ranks second on the team with 43 points on 16 goals and 27 assists while his 1.39 points per game leads the Big Ten and ranks tied for third nationally. Barratt's 11-game point-streak and seven-game goal streak from earlier this season are also Penn State records.
Biro earns the first postseason honor of his career after leading the team with 27 points during Big Ten play on 10 goals and 17 assists in 22 games played. Overall, the junior ranks fourth on the team with a career-high 39 points on 16 goals and 23 assists.
Hults also earns his first career postseason accolade after finishing conference play third among Big Ten defensemen with 18 points on four goals and 14 assists in 24 games played. The sophomore is also having himself a career year with 28 points overall, the third most by a defenseman for a single-season in program history while his 22 assists are tied for the second-most in a single-season by a Penn State blue-liner.
Senior Chase Berger (St. Louis, Mo.) was named the team's sportsmanship award honoree. Berger has committed just four minor penalties all season while registering 14 goals and 14 assists for 28 points and becoming the third player in program history to hit the 100-point mark. The senior is also the program's all-time leader in games played having laced up his skates in 153 consecutive games since arriving on campus.
Penn State now has 21 All-Big Ten honorees all-time under head coach Guy Gadowsky and have had at least two honoree's each year dating back to the 2014-15 season.
