Strong Second Round Moves Nittany Lions to Sixth at Colleton River Collegiate

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Penn State senior JD Hughes finished with three-straight birdies to tie teammate James McHugh for ninth at 2-under after the second round of play at the Colleton River Collegiate Invitational Monday. The Nittany Lions finished in the No. 6 spot with a 7-over 583 team total and strong 286 in the afternoon round.
 
McHugh, competing as an individual, recorded a 2-under 142 (71-71). Hughes tallied a 5-under 67 in the second round for his 142 total.
 
Davis moved up 10 spots by the day's end for a tie for 20th with a 145 (74-71). Ryan Dornes (75-73) and Alec Bard (73-75) were at 148 for a tie for 39th. Charles Huntzinger was in a four-way tie for 58th with a 152 (77-75).

Penn State begins its third round at 8:50 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5. Michigan State leads the field after Monday's rounds at a 13-under 563 (282-281) with the Spartans' Donnie Trosper in the No. 1 spot at 136 (69-67).
