Ament, O’Keefe named Tewaaraton Nominees

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Penn State men's lacrosse redshirt junior Grant Ament and junior Mac O'Keefe have been named to the list of 25 nominees for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award. The Tewaaraton Award is recognized as the pre-eminent lacrosse award, annually honoring the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States.

Ament is leading the nation in both points per game and assists per game. His points per game numbers are up to 7.36, while his assist per game number is 5.82. He now holds the Penn State single season record with 64 assists so far this year and has added 17 assists for 81 points in just 11 games. He has 10 ground balls and has score two game winners and one man-up goal.

O'Keefe is currently third in the nation at 3.83 goals per game and is the all-time leading goal scorer in Penn State history with 132 career goals. His career goals per game average is tops in the nation at 3.14. O'Keefe is at 46 goals in 2019, with a personal best 12 assist, for a career-best 58 points. He is shooting a career-best .442 percent and has five man-up goals with six caused turnovers and 19 ground balls.

This marks the first career appearance on the Tewaaraton Nominee list for both Ament and O'Keefe.

Ament, O'Keefe and the rest of the Nittany Lions wrap up the 2019 regular season with a 2:30 first face against Rutgers on Saturday, April 27. Penn State will honor its senior class prior to the start of the game.
