Wildman, Tuman Selected To USA Men's Junior National Team For Pan Am Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Penn State freshmen Brett Wildman and Canyon Tuman have been selected to represent USA Volleyball on the Men's Junior National Team at the U21 Pan American Cup May 5-10 in Lima, Peru.

Wildman and Tuman were two of 12 players selected to the roster while fellow Penn State freshman Cal Fisher was named one of six alternates.

The team will compete for a qualification in the FIVB Men's U21 World Championship July 18-27 in Bahrein.

Wildman was Penn State's most productive outside/opposite hitter down the stretch of the 2019 regular season and postseason. The Virginia Beach native started the final 13 matches for the Nittany Lions and was named an EIVA Honorable Mention. He finished third on the team with 195 kills and 2.17 kills per set. He also had 29 service aces, good for the second-most on Penn State.

The EIVA Tournament is where Wildman really shined after posting 46 totals kills with a .367 hitting percentage, 13 digs, and five aces in two matches. He was named an EIVA All-Tournament Team selection. Wildman was also named to the USA Volleyball World University Games roster which will play in Italy in early July.

Tuman started 26-of-27 matches at middle blocker in his first season as a Nittany Lion and completed the year with 87 kills and a .510 hitting percentage. The Sewickley, Pa., native recorded the second-most blocks on the team with 53.

Tuman had a strong offensive showing in the EIVA Tournament with 16 kills and a .619 hitting percentage in a pair of matches.

Fisher was a versatile performer in his first season in Happy Valley with 27 matches played. Fisher began the season filling in at opposite and outside and played effectively with 88 total kills and a .249 hitting percentage during the year.

The Pittsburgh, Pa., native then transitioned to libero for the final six matches of the season and recorded 34 digs during that span.

Wildman and Tuman become the first Nittany Lions since Calvin Mende in 2017 to play for the USA Volleyball Junior National Team. Additional Penn Staters to have been named to the team include Aaron Russell (2011), Joe Sunder (2008-09), Max Holt (2006-07), and Matt Anderson (2006-07).
