UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse senior midfielder Kayla Brisolari and defender Reilly Masterson earned IWLCA All-Region honors on Tuesday. Brisolari collected first team accolades, while Masterson was named to the second team in the West/Midwest Region.
Brisolari is a first-team All-Region selection for the second straight year. As a senior, she collected 31 goals, eight assists, 37 ground balls, 73 draw controls and 26 caused turnovers. She had 13 multi-point performances and 10 multi-goal games. Brisolari led the Big Ten with 1.53 caused turnovers per game and ranked No. 3 in ground balls per game (2.18) and No. 4 in draw controls per game (4.29).
The two-year captain had four goals in each game this season against Loyola and Virginia. She added hat-tricks against Ohio State and Rutgers. Brisolari won a career-best seven draw controls against Princeton, Johns Hopkins and Maryland.
Brisolari adds the All-Region honor to being named All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Tournament Team. She was also a member of the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
Masterson earned her first career All-Region honor after being named All-Big Ten earlier this year. She started all 17 games, notching an assist, 20 ground balls, four draw controls and 17 caused turnovers.
She caused a career-high five turnovers and picked up three ground balls against Lehigh. Masterson also won two draws and caused three turnovers against Virginia. She scooped up four ground balls at Duquesne and won two draws against Johns Hopkins.
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, won eight games in 2019, including victories against No. 11 Towson and No. 21 Johns Hopkins. Junior Maria Auth joined Brisolari and Masterson in collecting All-Big Ten accolades.
