UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State men's soccer team and second-year head coach Jeff Cook announced its full 2019 schedule Monday morning. The slate is highlighted by nine home games within the friendly confines of Jeffrey Field as well as matchups with seven 2018 NCAA Tournament teams.
"We can hardly wait for preseason to begin this August," said Cook. "This schedule presents some fantastic opportunities to test ourselves against some of the most outstanding soccer programs across the country.
"Our Big Ten schedule is always a highlight of the season, but we also feel we can look forward to some traditional regional rivalries and many nonconference opponents that have competed successfully in the NCAA Tournament. We're very excited for our home slate at Jeffrey Field kicking off with traditional national title contender Stanford on August 30."
During preseason, the Nittany Lions will host two exhibition games at Jeffrey Field, welcoming Georgetown and Syracuse to Happy Valley on August 17 and August 24, respectively.
Penn State will then officially open the 2019 season and the home slate against Stanford on August 30 at 7 p.m.
The Blue & White hit the road for three-straight matches to start September, traveling to Long Island, New York, to face Stony Brook on Labor Day, September 2, at 7 p.m. before heading south to the Sunshine State to play UCF on September 6 at 7 p.m. and Stetson on September 8 at 1 p.m.
Penn State then returns to Jeffrey Field to host Villanova on Friday, September 13 at 7 p.m. before opening Big Ten conference play at Ohio State on September 21 at 7 p.m.
Michigan then comes to Jeffrey Field on September 27 at 7 p.m. for the Seventh Annual Mack Brady Match.
The Nittany Lions open the month of October with a midweek trip to East Lansing, Michigan on October 2 to play 2018 College Cup participant Michigan State at 7 p.m.
Penn State will welcome two Big Ten foes and in-state rival Pitt to Jeffrey Field for three-straight home contests: 2018 College Cup participant Indiana on October 6 at 1 p.m., Northwestern on October 12 at 7 p.m., and Pittsburgh on October 15 also at 7 p.m.
Penn State returns to its Big Ten schedule at Wisconsin in Madison on October 19 at 7 p.m. before hosting another three-game home set at Jeffrey Field. Nonconference opponents James Madison and Appalachian State come to town on October 22 and October 25, respectively, with both matches starting at 7 p.m.
The Nittany Lions then close out the home slate hosting 2018 national champions Maryland on Senior Night on October 30 at 7 p.m.
The 2019 regular season will conclude at Rutgers on November 3 at 4 p.m.
The Big Ten Tournament begins with the quarterfinals on November 9 on the campus sites of the top-four seeds.
All times and dates are subject to change with TV schedule to come.
Promotions for the upcoming season will also be announced at a later date. Penn State men's soccer does not charge for tickets or parking during the regular season at Jeffrey Field.
