UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Highlighted by pitcher Conor Larkin in the Cape Cod Baseball League, 17 Penn State baseball student-athletes are competing in nine different summer ball leagues.
Larkin will compete for the Wareham Gatemen in Massachusetts, playing for head coach Jerry Weinstein, who was once Penn State head coach Rob Cooper's junior college head coach at Sacramento City College.
Penn State has a trio of pitchers competing in the Northwoods League: Ralph Gambino, Jared Freilich and Tyler Shingledecker in the upper-midwest. Other Penn State trios include Cole Bartels, Parker Hendershot and Curtis Robison in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, Ryan Ford, Isaiah Payton and Jeff Taylor in the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League and Steven Miller, Brendan Mullins and Hutch Gagnon in the upstate New York-based Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.
Kris Kremer is competing for the Bethesda (Md.) Big Train in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League, while Gavin Homer is with the Chillicothe (Ohio) Paints (Prospect League), Mason Nadeau is with the Front Royal (Va.) Cardinals (Valley League) and Jacob Padilla is playing closer to home with the Brazos Valley Bombers (Texas Collegiate League).
