Swimming & Diving Teams Earn CSCAA Scholar All-America Honors

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) named the Penn State men's and women's swimming and diving teams to its Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2019 Semester Tuesday. A record 480 institutions were named to the list, highlighted by Penn State men's and women's GPAs of 3.04 and 3.49, respectively.

To be selected as a CSCAA Scholar All-America Team, programs must have achieved a grade point average of 3.00 or higher over the spring semester.

The Nittany Lion women combined for a 3.49 team grade point average for their 16th consecutive semester above a 3.0, while the men earned a 3.04 team GPA, surpassing 3.0 for a sixth-consecutive semester and for the ninth time in the last 10 semesters.

CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart noted: "Coach [Tim] Murphy continues to produce champions in the pool and the classroom."

At 3.45, the median GPA among women's teams was the highest on record.  The men's median (3.23) was down slightly from the Fall semester.

The CSCAA will announce its individual Scholar All-Americans next week.
