UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two home games as part of the NIT Season Tip-off event are confirmed for the nonconference portion of the Penn State men's basketball schedule. The Nittany Lions will play host to Bucknell on Tuesday, Nov. 19 and Yale on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the Bryce Jordan Center.
Announced earlier this year, Penn State will play in the NIT Season Tip-off with two games in the Barclays Center Wednesday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 29. Mississippi, Oklahoma State and Syracuse are the three possible opponents for the semifinals and finals of this tournament.
Game times and broadcast arrangements for all games will be announced at a later date.
"We are very fortunate as to how our schedule has evolved for 2019-20," said Penn State men's basketball coach Pat Chambers. "The opportunity to play in in the Barclays Center over Thanksgiving was offered to us and we were able to change our original tournament plans. We can't wait to be back in New York and we'll participate in the Charleston Classic the following season."
Penn State and Bucknell have met 103 times previously, including two times in 1897, the only two games of Penn State's first basketball season. The Nittany Lions have won 78 games in the overall series and, most recently, the Nittany Lions and Bison played four-straight seasons from 2012-15.
Yale last played at the Bryce Jordan Center in 2002, one of only three contests played in the new millennium and six total in the series. The Bulldogs have a 4-2 series advantage.
The Nittany Lions' complete 2019-20 nonconference schedule, including two early November home games, will be released in July.
