UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Penn State women's soccer program has announced its 2019 regular season schedule. Head coach Erica Dambach's squad is scheduled to play 10 of its 19 regular season games at the friendly confines of Jeffrey Field.
"We are excited to once again play one of the most challenging schedules in the country. We look forward to welcoming some of the nation's top teams to Jeffrey Field and can't wait to get the 2019 season started!" Coach Dambach stated.
The Nittany Lions will open the season with Stanford University on August 23. The Stanford Cardinal will play at Jeffrey Field for the first time since 2012. The Cardinal lead the all-time series 3-1 with the last meeting between the teams coming in 2017. Stanford edged the Nittany Lions in the NCAA quarterfinal round.
Opening weekend also sees the Nittany Lions host Hofstra University on August 25. Penn State sports a perfect 6-0 record against the Hofstra Pride. The Nittany Lions defeated the Pride 3-0 on Jeffrey Field in August of 2017.
Following its opening weekend, the Nittany Lions hit the road for a three-game road trip. Penn State travels to Long Beach State (Aug. 30), Loyola Marymount (Sept. 1) and West Virginia (Sept.6) before returning to Jeffrey Field.
The Nittany Lions conclude non-conference play with three consecutive home games against James Madison (Sept. 8), Oklahoma State (Sept. 12) and Virginia (Sept. 15).
Continuing the home stand, the Nittany Lions begin Big Ten play against Michigan and Michigan State at Jeffrey Field on September 19 and 22.
The Nittany Lions head to Minnesota (Sept. 27) and Wisconsin (Sept. 29) for the second week of Big Ten competition. Penn State returns to University Park for a single game against Rutgers (Oct. 3) before another three-game road trip.
The road trip begins with the Buckeyes of Ohio State on October 6 and then the Nittany Lions travel to Indiana (Oct. 10) and Purdue (Oct. 13).
Penn State hosts Illinois (Oct. 17) and Northwestern (Oct. 20) for the final regular season home games of 2019.
To conclude the regular season, Penn State hits the road to play the Nebraska Cornhuskers on October 27.
The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to begin on November 1. The Big Ten Tournament semifinals are slated for Nov. 8 and the championship match is scheduled for Nov. 10.
The NCAA Tournament begins on Nov. 15 with the College Cup scheduled for Dec. 6-8 in San Jose, California.
During the 2019 season, the Nittany Lions will be chasing an unprecedented 20th Big Ten championships and second national title.
