Women’s Lacrosse Adds Drost To Staff

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State Women's Lacrosse head coach Missy Doherty has announced the addition of Corrine Drost as an assistant coach.  Drost joins the Nittany Lions' coaching staff after serving on the William & Mary staff in 2019.

During her time with the Tribe, Drost helped to make an impact on both sides of the ball.  She served as the offensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator while also helping with the defense and goalies. She also oversaw player development on and off the field.

"We are so excited to have Corrine joining our staff in Happy Valley," said Doherty. "Corrine was a fantastic attacking midfielder at Delaware and is one of the top rising assistants in the country.  Her experience, work ethic and knowledge of the game will be great additions to our program."

On the offensive side, W&M increased their total points by 33 from 2018 to 2019 despite playing in one less game. The Tribe's leading scorer, Belle Martire, ranked third in the CAA and Top 50 in the nation in points while tying a program record for points by a freshman. She was a second-team CAA and CAA All-Rookie selection. Another freshman attacker ranked second on the team in points and fourth in the CAA in free-position goals.  The Tribe increased their point production with five players ending the year with 20 or more points.

Under Drost, William & Mary paced the Colonial Athletic Association in ground balls per game (18.53) and ranked second in caused turnovers per game (9.73).  Goalie Elsa Rall led the conference in ground balls per game and three W&M players ranked among the league's top 10 in caused turnovers per contest.  She helped three Tribe players to earn All-CAA honors.

"I am incredibly honored to join the Penn State staff," said Drost. "The Penn State Athletics Department provides a student-athlete experience that is second to none. I look forward to being a part of helping our players grow on and off the field. I am excited to join the Big Ten conference and work with Missy, Mike [Molster] and our team to compete against some of the best players and coaches in the nation."

Drost spent the 2018 season as an assistant at Drexel, helping the Dragons to improve their goal, assist and draw control averages from the prior year.  She coached two All-CAA selections and the CAA Rookie of the Year.

From 2015-17, Drost coached at Delaware, her alma mater, helping the Blue Hens to 22 wins while leading the Delaware offense.  The Blue Hens ranked 19th in the nation in scoring margin (3.89) in 2015 and 18th (3.24) in 2016.

Drost served two seasons at Lafayette from 2013-14 and was a volunteer assistant at Delaware in 2012.

She was a standout at Delaware, graduating in 2011.  Drost tallied 70 career goal, including 30 as a senior.  She helped the Blue Hens to a CAA Championship Game appearance in 2009.

The Nittany Lions won eight games in 2019, including victories against No. 11 Towson and No. 21 Johns Hopkins.  Junior Maria Auth, senior Kayla Brisolari and senior Reilly Masterson collected All-Big Ten accolades.
