UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Head coach John Gondak and distance coach Angela Reckart have announced the 2019 schedule for the Penn State cross country teams. The Nittany Lions will host two home meets on the Blue-White Golf Course.
The Nittany Lions travel to Lock Haven University for the Dolan Duals on September 6 for the first meet of the season. Following the Dolan Duals, the Nittany Lions will host the Spiked Shoe Invitational on September 13.
Two weeks later, the teams travel to the Ohio State Invitational on September 28 to preview the Big Ten Championship course. The following week, the Nittany Lions remain on the road at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana.
The final meet of the regular season returns to University Park at the Blue-White Golf Course for the National Open on October 18.
Championship season begins on November 3 when the Nittany Lions return to Ohio State for the Big Ten Championships.
NCAA regional competition begins on November 15 at Lehigh University. The 2019 season concludes in Terre Haute, Indiana at the NCAA finals on November 23.
"As we head into the 2019 cross country season Coach Reckart and I believe both of our teams are in a position to advance to the NCAA finals and we set our fall schedule to help accomplish this. We will continue to host high level cross country meets on our home course and are looking forward to doing so again this year. We also will travel to Ohio State to preview the Big Ten Cross Country Championship course as well as travel to Notre Dame to try to earn NCAA qualifying points. The NCAA finals return to Terre Haute this year and as mentioned before, it is our goal to have both teams at the NCAA finals." Coach Gondak stated.
