Four From Women's Golf Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Earlier this week, four student-athletes from the Penn State women's golf team were honored as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA).

Recent graduates Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.), Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) and Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) along with freshman Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) each received this prestigious honor.

For Basso, Rogowicz and Waller this marks the third-consecutive year the trio has earned this distinction while Willis earns her first WGCA All-American Scholar honor.

To be selected to the All-American Scholar Team one must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50, this is one of the most stringent criteria in all of college athletics. This year 1,097 women's collegiate golfers were recognized with this prestigious honor.

Rogowicz and Waller along with fellow graduate Kamerine Taylor (Dublin, Ohio) were also named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars for having a grade-point average of 3.7 or better during the 2018-19 academic year. Penn State as a whole had a school record 117 Distinguished Scholars.
