Women's Volleyball Enters Season Ranked Eighth in the Nation

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. --
Penn State is ranked eighth in the season's first American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division I Coaches Top 25 Poll, which was released on Tuesday.
 
The Nittany Lions, who have been nationally ranked in 443 consecutive polls dating back to the end of the 1988 season, are one of seven Big Ten teams in the national poll. Coming in ahead of Penn State were No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Minnesota, No. 5 Wisconsin, and No. 6 Illinois, while Michigan is ranked 15th and Purdue is 17th.
 
Penn State plays 12 matches against nine nationally-ranked teams this season, including four against non-conference opponents. The Nittany Lions host No. 1 Stanford – the defending national champion – and No. 11 Oregon as part of the Big Ten/Pac 12 Challenge on Sept.. 13-14. They are scheduled for two matches against No. 12 Pittsburgh, which won the ACC title last season. The Panthers will come to Rec Hall on Sept. 20, and will host the second match of the series at the Petersen Events Center on Sept. 22.
 
Fans can get an early look at the Nittany Lions when they open the season by hosting the Penn State Classic at Rec Hall on Aug. 30-31. Hofstra, Holy Cross, and Wichita State are set to compete at the four-team, six-match event.
 
Season and single-match tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online HERE, by calling 1-800-NITTANY, or by visiting the Bryce Jordan Center ticket office in person Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
 
Adult tickets are $9 in advance, with costs rising to $11 at the door on match days. Youth tickets cost $5 if purchased in advance. Groups of 20 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.
