Nittany Lions Picked As Preseason Big Ten Favorite

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Penn State women's soccer program has been selected as the preseason choice to win the 2019 Big Ten Conference announced by the league on Monday. As voted on by the conference coaches, Penn State has been selected preseason favorite to win the conference each year since 2003.

In addition to the preseason coaches poll, the Big Ten also announced its annual preseason honors list. Defender Kaleigh Riehl (Fairfax Station, Va.), defender Ellie Jean (Coventry, Conn.) and goalkeeper Amanda Dennis (San Diego, Calif.) represented the Nittany Lions.

The Nittany Lions have claimed 19 Big Ten regular season championships in 25 years as a program, the most in the Big Ten. Penn State begins the season ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll by the United Soccer Coaches and opens the season against No. 3 Stanford on August 23 at 7:00 p.m. Penn State completes the opening weekend by playing Hofstra on August 25 at 2:30 p.m.
