Women's Golf Trio Earn 2019-20 B1G Preseason Honors

ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Penn State women's golf team had three members of its 2019-20 roster receive 2019 Big Ten Women's Golf Preseason Honors earlier Wednesday afternoon. Senior classmates Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) along with sophomore Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) were each named a preseason honoree for the first time in their careers.

The conference honored a total of 42 players from the 14 member schools when they released the list early Wednesday afternoon.

Willis had an impressive freshman campaign in 2018-19 competing in all 11 events finishing second on the team with a 73.50 stroke average. The sophomore registered a pair of top ten finishes including a record-breaking performance at the Nittany Lion Invitational where she earned individual medalist honors with a tournament record 11-under par score.

McLean finished the spring strong with a career-high third place finish at the Memphis Intercollegiate in April posting a 4-under total. The senior finished the season fourth on the team with a 74.27 stroke average in 10 events.

Herr competed in nine tournaments during her junior season finishing with a 75.30 stroke average and a high finish of t-21st at the Memphis Intercollegiate.

Penn State opens the fall portion of its 2019-20 schedule when they travel to Charleston, South Carolina for the Cougar Classic on September 8-10.
