Women's Golf Finishes 15th at Cougar Classic

HANAHAN, S.C. – The Penn State women's golf team finished 15th at the Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston following a final round 12-over, 300, on Tuesday morning at Yeamans Hall.

Vanderbilt tied the low 18-hole score of the week firing an 11-under, 277, in the final round to hold off Wake Forest by a single stroke capturing the title with a Cougar Classic record of 27-under (837) while the Deacons finished 26-under (838). Florida and Arkansas finished third and fourth with scores of 24-under (840) and 9-under (855), respectively, while Furman and UCF rounded out the top-5 in a tie for fifth with scores of 2-under (862).

Vanderbilt's Auston Kim earned individual medalist honors with a Cougar Classic 54-hole record 16-under, 200, while her teammate Louise Yu moved up 14 spots firing 8-under (64) during the final round to earn runner-up honors with a 9-under (207) total.

Senior Megan McLean (Lebanon, N.J.) turned in another solid round firing 75 (3-over) to finish tied for 37th with a 54-hole score of 3-over (219). Freshman Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) registered her best 18-hole score in her young career with a team low round score of 1-over, 73, and finished in a tie for 47th position at 5-over (221) for the week.

"I was very pleased with our freshman Mathilde [Delavallade], in her first tournament, as well as the leadership from Megan [McLean]," commented head coach Denise St. Pierre. "What we need are a few more players to step it up and show what they are capable of. We have some work ahead of us to make a move [this fall]."

Sophomore Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) turned in a solid round of 74 (2-over) while junior Olivia Zambruno (Mt. Pleasant, Pa.) and senior Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) rounded out the team scoring with final rounds of 6-over, 78.
