Nittany Lions Collect ITA Preseason Rankings

FULL RANKINGS

University Park, Pa. –
Penn State men's tennis will open up its fall slate with a singles player and a doubles pair in ITA's Preseason National Rankings. Christian Lakoseljac starts the season at No. 60 along with the duo of Gabriel Nemeth and Alp Sentay, who also sit at No. 60.

Lakoseljac is coming off a great junior season, ending 23-9 overall, 7-2 in conference and 2-2 against ranked opponents.

When playing doubles with Christos Antonopoulos, the tandem went 18-9 overall.

Lakoseljac earned his first First-team All-Big Ten selection following the season. He also earned two Big Ten Athlete of the Week Awards last spring, including the first of the season and the first one for the program since 2014.

Nemeth and Sentay went undefeated last spring while playing together, earning two victories at the No. 2 spot.

Nemeth played the majority of his junior season with senior partner Constant De La Bassetiere. The duo debuted in the spring with the No. 1 ranking in the nation after winning the ITA Atlantic Regional Championship in addition to winning the consolation bracket at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships and placing fifth overall.

He ended the spring with a 24-12 overall record and earned sixth place on the All-time list for doubles wins in a season.

Sentay ended his sophomore season with a 7-6 overall doubles record. In addition to playing with Nemeth, Sentay also played with Ben Lieb and went 3-3 overall.

" It is nice to start the year with a ranked singles player and double pair," head coach Jeff Zinn said. "It really shows the depth and leadership of our team this year. We are top heavy with upperclassmen in our lineup and they have to be the leaders this year if we are going to continue the success that we had last year. Hopefully they can work themselves up higher on the list and it all starts this weekend."

In their first contest of the fall, the Nittany Lions will travel to Princeton to compete in the Farnsworth-Ivy Plus Tournament from September 20-22.
