Swimming & Diving Unveils 2019-20 Schedule

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The 2019-20 Penn State swimming & diving schedule released Thursday includes five home meets, starting Friday, Oct. 4 on Homecoming weekend.
 
The Nittany Lions will debut Saturday at 8 a.m. in McCoy Natatorium with their annual intrasquad Blue-White meet and open their competitive season Friday, Oct. 4 at 2 p.m., hosting the St. Bonaventure men's and women's teams and the Liberty women's team.
 
Three of the five home meets will take place during the fall semester while two will take place during the spring semster.
 
SCHEDULE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Penn State will welcome its alumni, raise cancer awareness and honor servicemembers during its fall home slate with special swimsuits for each meet.
  • The Nittany Lions' home opener will be the teams' "Throwback Meet" as they welcome returning alumni for the Homecoming weekend meet by donning throwback-themed suits.
  • Penn State will wear pink to raise cancer awareness when it hosts West Virginia, Friday-Saturday, Oct. 11-12. The men's team will take on West Virginia Friday at 4 p.m and the women will faceoff Saturday at 9 a.m.
  • The Nittany Lions will host both Ohio State and Virginia Tech for a two-day double-dual meet to honor military members Friday-Saturday, Nov. 1-2, starting at 5 p.m. Friday and continuing at 10 a.m. Saturday. Penn State will wear patriotic-themed swimsuits.
  • The fall semester schedule will conclude with the Princeton Invitational Dec. 5-8.
  • The first meet of the New Year will be held in McCoy Natatorium Friday-Saturday, Jan. 10-11, when the women host Buffalo in a two-day double dual. It will be Camper Reunion Day as Penn State welcomes its past camp participants back to the Natatorium. The meet beings Friday at 5 p.m. and continues Saturday at 10 a.m.
  • Penn State's regular season finale is Friday, Jan. 31 starting at 4 p.m. against Villanova. The seniors will be honored before the meet and fans are encouraged to wear white. White shakers will be given away and the annual Penn State Duck Toss, which features chance to win prizes for the most accurate rubber duck throwers, will take place during an intermission.
  • The Nittany Lion women join other Big Ten foes at Iowa for the Big Ten Championships, Feb.19-22, while the men will head to Indiana, Feb. 26-Feb 29, for Big Tens.
  • The divers will compete in the NCAA Zone A Regional, Mar. 9-11 at West Virginia.
  • The postseason continues later in March at the NCAA Championships where the women will travel to Georgia, Mar. 18-22, and the men will head to Indianapolis, Indiana, Mar. 25-28.
