Princeton, N.J. – Penn State men's tennis ended day two at the Farnsworth-Ivy Plus Tournament with three players to compete in consolation finals. The team played two rounds of singles competition and will wrap up both singles and doubles tomorrow.
SINGLES
Alp Sentay earned a walkover win over Andrew Redding of Indiana. He will face Kristofer Siimar of Michigan next in the finals of the consolation flight.
Gabriel Nemeth lost to Ryan Fu of Michigan, 3-6, 7-5 (11). He then defeated David Horneffer of Dartmouth, 6-3, 7-6 (5). He will go against Ying-ze Chen of Kentucky next in the final of constellations.
Christos Antonopoulos suffered a tough loss to Giles Hussey of Tennessee, 7-6 (1), 6-3, before retiring against Jacob Bullard of Texas. He is scheduled to play Teddy Oosterbaan of Michigan next.
Chikaya Sato was defeated by William & Mary's Daniel Pellerito, 6-2, 6-1. He ended his day with a win over Cornell's Denton Ho, 6-3, 6-2. Next up, he will go up against Eshan Talluri of Texas in the finals of his consolation flight.
"Overall we played better today and competed hard," head coach Jeff Zinn said. "We didn't get every result we wanted but some of the guys got some needed wins to help bolster their confidence."
