Penn State Completes Day Two at the UVA Blue and Orange Classic

Charlottesville, Va. – Penn State men's tennis earned five team wins against UVA during the second day at the UVA Blue and Orange Classic. 

The Nittany Lions will finish out the tournament Sunday against players from Columbia.

SINGLES

Christian Lakoseljac retired against Gianni Ross of UVA to give him the win, 6-3, 5-5, ret.

Christos Antonopoulos couldn't get the win against Ryan Goetz of UVA, 6-2, 7-5. 

Gabriel Nemeth lost to UVA's William Woodall, 6-2, 6-1. 

Chikaya Sato was defeated by Matthew Lord of UVA, 6-3, 6-3. 

Alp Sentay got the dominating victory against UVA's Ammar Alhaqbani, 6-2, 6-1. He is a perfect 4-0 this fall. 

Chris Kuhnle earned a three-set win over Jefferson Dockter of UVA, 7-5, 0-6, 7-6.

Noah Sutter earned a default victory. 

Andrei Paduraru collected his first victory as a Nittany Lion against UVA's Ethan Moszkowski, 6-3, 6-1. 

DOUBLES

Lakoseljac/Antonopoulos got their second win of the tournament together against UVA's Ross/Woodall, 8-6.

Nemeth/Sentay earned their first win of the weekend against Goetz/Alshon of UVA, 8-6. 

Sutter/Sato suffered a tough loss to UVA's Lord/Alhaqbani, 8-2. 

Kuhnle/Paduraru lost a close match to Dockter/Romualdez of UVA, 8-6.  

"We had another good day with a lot of good tennis being played." head coach Jeff Zinn said. "We played some of the best doubles we have played this fall and got some wins against some quality opponents. I want to congratulate our lower lineup players who won their singles matches. They played very well under tough conditions and came out with wins."

"Going up against UVA, we knew we were going to have to play aggressively," associate head coach Paul Tobin said. "Singles was going to be a battle and I am happy to see us win at the lower spots. The guys are working hard and that's all we can ask for."
